Well we all knew THIS was coming

If the shoe fits .....

You saw it coming, didn't you.  When the three of us here were picking what I would be dressed up as, you knew already I wasn't gonna make it as an angel and dad was not going to get to dress me up in my Aloha shirt, right?

By now we are all well aware that in matters of clothing MOM WINS.

Always.

She said the devil made her do it.

She thinks she is so funny.  Embarassing sometimes.

Whose fangs are scarier????

Where my dad ALWAYS WINS is with the decorations.  We go all out at our house.  We live at the end of the block so our house kind of screams WE"VE GOT THE GOOD CANDY DOWN HERE, KIDS.  Skeletons, spiders, lights, oh my!

And, of course, Mom MUST find a seasonal app to use as well.  She found this frame on picnik.  If you have not checked them out, you should.  The holidays are coming and all and you might be able to make your holiday card right there without too much fuss.  There is already enough fuss in the season, but I digress ....

Be safe out there puppers ... stick with your people and don't eat any chocolate!!!!

OMG, one last time ...

source

I have to tell you, when you start sniffing out fun, funky, unbelievable dog items, you come up with some pretty interesting stuff.

Such as this hot dog leash.  Who knew, puppers, who knew that such a delicacy even existed.

Seriously, a leash made out of hot dog look alikes.

Should you want to purchase it yourself for the low, low price of $9.95, head on over here to the neatoshop, your place for, as they say, the neatest stuff on earth.

And with that, we are going to leave this wierd and wacky google search before it becomes an addiction for us.  Paws off the keyboard, if you will.

Stay tuned tomorrow for Friday finds, puppers.

Hope to see you there.

Carrying on in the OMG tradition of the week ...

source

I am unable to review this one as I am NEVER EVER unless Aunty Karen is in town allowed at the dinner table.  Not even underneath it when food is being served.

This would be because my parents never actually eat at the table, so why would I ever have occasion to be there.  It's easier to cast my adorable eyes their way at the table in front of the sofa anyhow so I am good with it. I have such good manners and all.

But, should you be allowed at the table, this "OMG what do YOU think about it?"  product can be found here

Once again, we are left wondering .....

What say you puppers???

OMG - ears twitching again

source

We're just gonna go for it this week and show you a couple more things we just can't completely wrap our paws around.

Take this sasquatch pet bed for instance.  On the one hand, it's got a removable liner for easy washing.  The "frame" if you will is wipe-clean-able ... GREAT.  Plus the lip of the heel there is great for head resting.  I lovea good head rest on my bed.

On the other hand, it's a big croc.  A veritable big plastic shoe look alike if you will.  And, with all due respect to our hunting friends in Texas, camouflage, really????

What say you on this one puppers??

OMG -- now we've seen it all

source

You know, we try real hard to come up with new stuff for you puppers on this blog. Every now and again, when we put our paws on the keyboard and google it, we come up with some stuff we just can't believe ... stuff that really makes us twitch our ears and all.

Such is the case with the Dog-O-Mat we found via likecool.com.  You lucky Brits are going to get it first apparently.

Fine with me on this one.  Does that dog look happy to you???

According to the website, you pick your cycle based on dog size, and it costs the equivalent of £13 to wash a small dog, £22 for medium size, and £31 for the largest customers.  I am not sure about foreign currency calculations myself, but something tells me it would be alot less expensive to just take me out back and hose me down.

What say you on this one, puppers???  Relaxing day at the spa or head for the hills when they start putting the coins in??

Feel Good Friday, Part II: Canine Companions

Well you knew we weren't really gonna talk about CATS all week, right.

Yep, I just couldn't take it and I decided I had to sneak a quick one in about a feel good dog story.

Check this out ... tomorrow on EVERYDAY HEALTH on ABC they are going to show a great guy getting introduced to his new canine companion, a seizure dog.

We think you're gonna want to check it out with us.

You can go HERE to read more about it!

Here's hoping we all have a feel good weekend, puppers.

Good Dog Design: Cats on Feel Good Friday

source

Well now doesn't this just sum up cat week on The White Dog Blog.  Kind of makes you want to say "and they lived happily ever after" doesn't it.

Although how come the cat gets to drive??

Thanks once again to Cate at the BlanketId blog (you really must check it out here because she finds great stuff ) we now know where to find the perfect holiday gifts for our westie friends who are also cat lovers.  I have a real affinity to chase 'em so we aren't gonna go there in our house, but apparently PFCE (peaceful feline coexistence) is possible, despite our out and out instinct to tear them up terrier-tude.

These bookmarks can be found here, in kilkenneycat's etsy shop, and here is one more we just love:

Here's hoping you enjoyed cat week.  Who knew that those other four-leggeders had as much cool stuff to choose from as we did???

Good Dog Design: Cat Week -- clothes

source

He's a handsome one, that black cat up there ....

Two paws up to Cate at the BlanketID blog for giving us an ears up on this one ... turns out Rover Dog makes CAT CLOTHES.  Being all about equal opportunity and all, we found a bow tie for our feline friends that's pretty similar to the Halloween ones we found for ourselves last week.

Who knew, puppers, who knew???

You can find it here.

meowoof ... or something like that ....

Good Dog Design: Cat Week, Liter Box

source

You know, the whole litter box thing eludes me.  Perhaps the concept hits a little too close to home, being that I sleep in a big tub and all.

Plus, if you don't go outside to do your business, how do you know what is up in the hood?  Check your pee mail?  Sniff anybody's privates?

Anywoof, if you're into that sort of thing, here's a good one for you.  Apparently, some kitties like to do their business with a little privacy -- again, another concept that eludes me -- so with this box they literally hop up, go down some stairs and tend to their business and then hop back up again.  And those stairs will keep us puppers from sticking our noses in it, literally.  It comes with a cool liner that won't absorb odors and is waterproof and the stairs apparently keep the litter from coming out with the cat. Bet my mom wishes I would come in with less dirt and grass myself, but I digress ....

Stay away from my tub, you feline furries, and check it out here instead.

We give it high marks for the design aesthetic.

Good Dog Design: Cat Week -- Beds

Source

Well I'll be gosh dogged.  All this time I have been thinking that we puppers had the market cornered on cool pet beds.  Purr and behold, puppers ... cats have cool bedding options too.

Check this one out from nipandbones.com that is designed to look like a sofa.  Cool, yes?  And I don't know what's up with all that cat scratching, but this one is designed for them to do that with intention. Go figure.  I'd get grounded for far less.

Good Dog Design: Cat Week

source

Don't say we aren't fair around here ... it's CAT WEEK on our dog blog!

To get us started out, here is a little something we found at Incredible Things.

And we quote:

"Everyone knows that cats are party animals who love to scratch records. Oh wait, I meant your favorite arm chair. Well maybe your cats would scratch records instead if they had their own turntable. The Cat Scratch from Suck UK turns your kitty into an adorable little DJ. It features a spinnable deck and poseable tone arm, so it really looks like he’s scratching records. Sure, we know he’s just exercising his claws, but put some headphones on him and play some phat beats—that would make a great YouTube video. Okay, maybe I’m getting carried away. Either way, whenever your cat goes to rake its claws over this, rather than your furniture, it will be music to your ears. $24"

Really?

We've been rendered speechless.

Doesn't happen often.

Now we know what they mean by "one cool cat."

Feel Good Friday, Halloween Style

Source

Look out San Diego, somebody is going after your world record!  The current Guiness World Record for "most dogs in a costume parade" was set at Petco Park in San Diego on July 27th, with 337 dogs in costume.  Now, a group in Lakewood, Ohio is setting out to beat the record with their Spooky Pooch Parade.

Boy do I wish I could be there to see that, but, you know, the whole "no pups on the plane" conversation would no doubt get started up again here in the dog house, and I don't even want to go there.

If you're in the Ohio area and want to participate though ... you can click here, and we'll even forgive you for trying to bump California out of their title.

The parade is tomorrow ... we'll keep you posted!

Dogs and Halloween: Treats

You know, once we mentioned trick or treating for dogs, it dawned on us that before we opened up that bag of kibble, we should make sure there were treat options out there suitable for the occasion.

As usual, we did what any good researcher would do ... we put our paws on the keyboard and googled it.

Here are a few seasonal treats we found we think might be worth trying.

I actually can't endorse any of these personally because MY MOM HAS NOT BOUGHT THEM FOR ME YET, HINT HINT MOM.

We'll link you to them and you can check them out for yourselves if you'd like.

get them here
I'm thinking if someone named Grandma Lucy makes them, they are bound to be good.

get them here

With packaging this good, these treats are bound to be tasty.

find them here

The multi-tasker in me is all about getting my fruit AND veggie serving all in one treat!

Let us know if you try any of these out ... if you stop by with your pumpkin on Halloween, my guess is I'll be handing out Grandma Lucy treats!

Dogs and Halloween: Subtle Collars

Well, as expected, yesterday's post ignited a wee bit of debate around here. We had a little "chat" about dressing up and how much was too much and yada yada yada we do this every year.

So, might we suggest some subtler, more friendly to the dog who does not want to dress up and the mama who doesn't want him too options:

All of these, and many more great seasonal options for the dog who prefers understated elegance, can be found right here, in the Big Paw Collars etsy shop.

Go forth in subtlety, puppers!

Dogs and Halloween -- Costumes

For us, Halloween ALWAYS brings up the "do we dress the dog or don't we??" debate.  This is one time they both seem to agree that I can get all duded up, but boy do the three personalities in our house come out strong when it comes time to pick a costume.

I, for instance, tend to think of myself this way:
source

My mama, without out a doubt,  views me this way nine days out of ten.
I'm good with it ... pretty sure my sassiness is what keeps her going!

source

My dad, Mr. "Tommy Bahama yes let's dress him up and call attention to him" is a rather laid back type and he tends to see both he and I this way:

What are your thoughts on dressing up for Halloween?

And, don't you think we should initiate some sort of trick or treating for puppers???   I mean, after all, we INVENTED doing trick for treats!

And with that, I am off to find a plastic pumpkin with a short enough handle that I can tote it around in my mouth without it dragging on the ground .....

Dogs and Halloween -- it's that time of year

Source

Well, we fancy ourselves pretty creative around here, but we probably aren't even going to touch this one .... carve a pumpkin to look like me????  Probably not.

We say this on Interior Design Hound and thought we would pass it along too.  You can see what they ha to say about it here and you can get your very own stencils from Better Homes and Gardens here.

Friday Finds: Five Collars for the Girls

source

source

source

source

source

Starting from the top, ladies ....

If you've never checked out The Cool Puppy you really should!  The first two collars are theirs and you can find them here and here.  We love them because they are just a wee bit different!

Next up, number three today, is one I know my mom would have me wearing for every special occasion if I was a girly pup.  You can find it at Dogologie's etsy shop right here.

For all you tom-boy type pups out there, these Mascot sailor's knot collars are for you.  Mom said it reminds her of her preppy high school days.  I think they look rather sporty, myself. You can find them here on the Mascot website.

And, last but not least, Mom says somtimes the ladies like BLING ... so here you go!  We are also thinking that we should let these kind people know that mom wants a bracelet like this.  Hint, Hint.

So there you go girls ... some options to keep you in the style to which I am sure you have become accustomed!

Sign me,
Doin' my part D

Weekend Prep: Bark for Beer Collar

Tomorrow's Friday Finds is gonna be for the girls, so we thought we would put this one out there today for the rugged, athletic, football watching manly men amongst you.

For you, this might become a  go-to favorite collar:

source

Wait for it .........

Wait for it .........

THIS COLLAR HAS A BOTTLE OPENER ON IT!!!!!!

That square part up there unclasps and pulls out on a tether to pop a top for you.

I mean, serious paw thunk on forehead for moi ... another "why didn't WE think of that."  I mean, just the other day my mom had her car keys out trying to open a cold frosty one.  If only, puppers. If only!

Now go forth and train yourselves to grab a beer out of the cooler.  Go on, make yourselves indispensable puppers!!

(You can find it here.)

Good Dog Design: Water Resistant Collar

source

You may recall that at one point in my early years, I aspired to be an Olympic Diver.  I have since moved on to other aspirations as yet to be determined but had I stuck it out with the whole water sports theme, this is the collar I would have needed.  This one is for you, Surf Dogs!

The Teafco Fydo is water resistant, comes with a smooth double locking system so there are not uncomfortable buckles, and has a low profile spot to have your people write your name and number on.  If you go here to check it out, you can see all the other great colors it comes in.  I am picking the orange one as I, as you may have noticed, like to stand out a bit.

Oh, and since it's plastic, it's not gonna stink if it gets wet and it will rinse right off in case of muddy encounters at the dog park.  Who moi????

Good Dog Design: Collars

source

Well, Happy Tuesday everybody!

We are doing another "paw thunk on forehead" this morning around here.

Yep, why didn't WE think of that collar idea up there.

You can find it at http://www.snapsstore.com/ and the idea behind the collar is that you buy a basic collar and change out the snaps for different occasions.

My mom, birthday princess extraordinaire, is partial to this set of snaps:

source
They have snaps for EVERY occasion.  And we love the concept ... one collar for every occasion. Oh, the storage space (and MONEY!!) we could save ....
