I was NICE!!!!!!

Here are the treats I left out for Santa.
I put them on a fancy plate.

He brought me lots of presents.
 I love the tissue paper!!!

I got so many presents I must have been REAL good!

Santa brought mom Westie presents too!!!

And Dad got Westie presents also!!!
Being nice was soooo worth it.  I think I am going to have to blow off some of the naughty that has been building up but after that I am going to go back to being nice again.

Thank you to Santa Paws and all my friends who sent me gifts.  I've had the most pawesome Christmas EVER!!!!

Nice vs Naughty: The Homestretch

Dear Santa,

Wasn't it NICE of me to let my parents call me naughty for the sake of a cute holiday card?

Seriously,  I was NOT being naughty when they took that photo.

I was tired.  That was about the 473rd photo my mom had taken of me with that silly hat on and I was plum tuckered out.

My dad was tired too, and you don't see anybody calling him naughty on a card and mailing it out to people far and wide.

I'm just saying.

Anyhow, I guess it's up to you now.  You've probably already sorted us all into categories.  I am not gonna run off and do anything really naughty just in case, but I guess there is no use pointing out my NICENESS anymore this year.

I really tried to be good, Santapaws and I swear that anything otherwise was purely accidental.

Oh, and I will be putting out treats for you tonight before I go to bed and they are the really good kind so you might want to stop here first before you get full.  I will get my dad to take me on my night-night walk right after dinner and go to sleep early so you can come on by whenever you are ready.

Love,

Duncan

Happy Birthday Ellie!

I have my ball and I am headed your way to celebrate your birthday!

We interrupt our Nice vs Naughty series to say

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELLIE!

So sorry we are a day late.  I would blame it on my mom, but that would be a naughty thing to do and I am trying to be real NICE right now, so we'll just call it mom messed up "technical difficulties."

Hopefully you are still celebrating today.  And tomorrow too.  And all the days between now and the time we see you at our house to open presents.

You're awesome, and we hope you had a pawesome birthday!!!!

Nice vs Naughty: Day 20

This morning my mom and I were having a snuggly little chat before we got out of bed.

We were talking about how lucky I am.  And how lucky she is.  We have each other, and we have dad too.   We have never gone hungry and never wondered where to sleep at night.

This led to a discussion about some puppers that might need something to make them feel special like I do.

So this afternoon we are gonna take this big box of treats to the shelter in our neighborhood so they can have some treats in their stocking like I am sure very hopeful that I am going to get.

We are sure Santapaws will go see them too, we're just gonna help him out a little bit.

Just trying to help, Santa.  Just counting our blessings and trying to help!

Nice vs Naughty: Clarification needed please Santa

Dear Santapaws,

Regarding the whole "naughty vs nice" thing, I was just wondering if it counts against you if you do something that could be construed as naughty but you do it out of love?

Say, for instance, that I did not want my mom or dad to go out of town, so I slept in their suitcase so they could not pack their things in it.  And/or maybe when they took me out of the suitcase (rude!) I kind of took everything out of it that they had put in it when they went back to grab some other things.

Not that I would actually do anything like that, but I was just checking.

You know, in case another pupper asks me for clarification or something.

You know, just wondering.

I know you're real busy and all right now but if you could just let me know on this one when you get a chance I sure would appreciate it.

Sincerely,

Duncan

Nice vs Naughty: A little reminder

Dear Santapaws,

In case you missed my blog that day, I just wanted to remind you that I did NOT pee on the art.

And the art looked alot like a fire hydrant.

And the timing was perfect for a pee.

But I didn't do it.

I was NICER than that.

I'm just saying ....

Nice vs Naughty: A little forgiveness

Well.  Mom and I have talked about it.  Alot.

And she has reminded me that I have had lots (and lots, and lots!) of great days on the beach with she and my dad.

So I have decided to get over it.

You know, let it go that my dad was on the beach with another pup.  Cheater.

Yessiree, Santapaws.

Call me a forgiver.

A real, real NICE forgiver.

Nice vs Naughty: A bump in the road

Every now and then, when I want to know what my parents are up to when I am not around, I check out mom's camera.  Imagine my surprise when I starting clicking through the photos and saw my dad hanging out at the beach with another dog.

Shock.

Heartbreak.

I mean, they look so natural together.  Surely this is not the first time they have met?

Santa, I confess.  I had uncharitable thoughts about that other dog up there.

Couldn't help it.  My dad and I are best buds -- how could that other dog move into my territory?

Dad said it was all perfectly innocent.

Seems to me that someone might deserve some coal in his stocking!!

Grrrrrrr.

Nice vs Naughty: Day 6

Last night my mom and I started wrapping our presents.  I got alot of friends, so I, being the "nice" one that I am, wanted to get started on mine early and get that part out of the way for my mom, who seems to be starting to stress out a bit about getting it all done during the holidays.

But the real "nice" part ... Santa are you listening? ... is that I did not EAT any of the wrapping paper.  I mean, seriously, if you have read this blog for any length of time at all, you know how I feel about paper.  Especially paper on a roll.  A cardboard roll.  You have no idea the discipline it took (Santa ....) for me to stay focused on my mission and WRAP my presents instead of EATING the wrapping.

Score another point for team "nice", puppers!!!

Nice vs Naughty: Day 2

You know, not too long ago, that picture up there would have been the end of the story for me.

Who, moi?  Fold laundry?  I think not.

But, interestingly enough, last night I allowed my mom to convince me (wink, wink) that given that I have FOUR paws compared to her TWO, I am uniquely qualified to fold laundry double time, if you will.

Yep.  Folded that entire basket up there without even hopping in the basket and tossing undies and socks everywhere like I usually do.

Two days into the whole "nice" thing and still going strong.

Santapaws, are you listening?

Nice vs Naughty: Day One

Going with the theory that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, I wore my Santa suit all weekend.  So far, I think I've got the whole "nice" thing in the bag, or stocking, if you will!

I'm so thankful ...

Things I am Thankful For
by Duncan Breazeale

I am thankful for my mom sometimes going all "Martha Stewart" on us.  It's this trait that allows me specially prepared Thanksgiving dinners just for me.  Go Mom!

I am thankful that my dad likes to watch TV.  I do too, and laying on his outstretched legs for an entire episode of Auction Hunters is my idea of heaven.

I am thankful for my special Aunties who come to see me and always bring me bags full of tissue paper and treats.

I am thankful for my Nonnie and Pop, and happy that I am going to meet them for the first time in a few weeks.  (Pee S:  I am already practicing my good manners for you!)

I am thankful for my aunts, uncles and cousins who come to see me and play with me for hours and let me sleep on the top of their head.

I am thankful for my blog reading and writing friends, both known and unknown.  You put a smile on me and mom's faces everyday and we love knowing that we do the same for you sometimes.

I am thankful that the whole "naughty vs. nice" thing does not really start until this time of year.  I'm a westie and I'd never make it a whole year.

Happy Turkey Day, Puppers!

A day in the life of Duncan ...

So apparently it kind of hurt my mom's feelings last week when I said she was a bad assistant.

Not enough to get her to fire up the dog mobile and take me out on some adventures worth blogging about, just enough to make her kind of bossy.

So she says to me "And what do YOU do all day that makes you too busy to do your own blogging?

Which made me think of the whole "paws on the keyboard thing" but I didn't want to get grounded for being sassy so I just said "Well, I am very busy doing some very busy types of things."

She didn't believe me, so she didn't really set up this time lapse photography thing.

And now I present photographic details of my very, very busy 8 hours while mom was at work today:

It's a wonder I have any energy left by the time she gets home ...
