I'm so thankful ...

Things I am Thankful For
by Duncan Breazeale

I am thankful for my mom sometimes going all "Martha Stewart" on us.  It's this trait that allows me specially prepared Thanksgiving dinners just for me.  Go Mom!

I am thankful that my dad likes to watch TV.  I do too, and laying on his outstretched legs for an entire episode of Auction Hunters is my idea of heaven.

I am thankful for my special Aunties who come to see me and always bring me bags full of tissue paper and treats.

I am thankful for my Nonnie and Pop, and happy that I am going to meet them for the first time in a few weeks.  (Pee S:  I am already practicing my good manners for you!)

I am thankful for my aunts, uncles and cousins who come to see me and play with me for hours and let me sleep on the top of their head.

I am thankful for my blog reading and writing friends, both known and unknown.  You put a smile on me and mom's faces everyday and we love knowing that we do the same for you sometimes.

I am thankful that the whole "naughty vs. nice" thing does not really start until this time of year.  I'm a westie and I'd never make it a whole year.

Happy Turkey Day, Puppers!

A day in the life of Duncan ...

So apparently it kind of hurt my mom's feelings last week when I said she was a bad assistant.

Not enough to get her to fire up the dog mobile and take me out on some adventures worth blogging about, just enough to make her kind of bossy.

So she says to me "And what do YOU do all day that makes you too busy to do your own blogging?

Which made me think of the whole "paws on the keyboard thing" but I didn't want to get grounded for being sassy so I just said "Well, I am very busy doing some very busy types of things."

She didn't believe me, so she didn't really set up this time lapse photography thing.

And now I present photographic details of my very, very busy 8 hours while mom was at work today:

It's a wonder I have any energy left by the time she gets home ...

Not quite sure how it happenned ...

I don't really know how it happenned.

I mean, really, I was just sitting there waiting patiently for mom to finish up with some weekend chores.

You know, I was just hanging out being the good dog that I am.

Suddenly, my ball just lept up off the ground and tossed itself into the sheets my mom had just taken off the bed.

I mean, really, that sucker went from a complete standstill to totally hidden in the sheets in a matter of seconds.

I know what you are thinking, and this has nothing to do with me getting bored or getting into my attention seeking mode.

Nope, not me.

I was totally innocent and that is what I told my mom when she started getting all fussy with me.

(1) Chores make her fussy.

(2) the sheets were the dirty ones not the clean ones so really what is the big deal?

Here is a technique for staying out of the dog house that I will share with you puppers.

Smile real big and say "photo op."

Works every time, puppers,

Works every time!

So this is what it has come to ...

Dang, puppers.

Competition for my mom's time has gotten so fierce that I have fired her as chief blogtographer and have come up with a new plan.

Well, OK, Aunty K came up with the plan.

She bought me my own camera (WOWZA!!) and now I am going to take my own pictures for the blog.

Ummmmm.  Wait a minute.

Now that I think about it, how are we going to continue the tradition of having MY picture on MY blog if I have to hold the camera.

Yikes.

Anybody got a tri-pawd??

The truth about our posting schedule ...

OK.  The fact of the matter is that I cannot totally blame the lack of blog posting around here on my mom.

You see, I am very popular and hanging out with my fan club and letting them adore me takes lots and lots of time.

I mean, seriously, it takes alot of energy to follow someone around all day and try to get them to rub my belly and tell me how cute I am.

Fortunately for me, my niece here was more than obliging.

I love her so much that one night when she went to bed without me I threw myself against the door and then, once let into the room, had a long conversation with my aunt explaining that YES, I was allowed in the bed.

Boy, they did not make that mistake twice!  The next night they put me right up in that bed with them and I slept on the top of K's head right where I belonged.  I don't know how comfortable they were, but I slept perfectly well, thank you very much.

Hurry back, people, hurry back!!!!

Halloween is so last month ..

Me, waiting for the action to start.

I know, I know.  Halloween is soooo last month. But my mom administrative assistant has been really busy in her paying other job and I looked really cute and it was really fun so we are going to post the pictues anyway.  Our apologies for the delay in sharing my cuteness with you.

Me, up past my bedtime and loving it.

Oh, my dawg, puppers.  We had way more trick or treaters this year than we have ever had.  There were so many ghosts and goblins and princesses and fairies and, truth be told, a whole lot of "what exactly was that?" too.  Every time my mom told my dad it was time to shut 'er down, more kids came.  We stayed outside WAY past dark.  I was on very, very good behavior.  I did not bark AT ALL.  Nope, not one bark at all.  Of course, it helped that nobody came by that was dressed up as a big dark dog!!!!

Me, chillaxin with spooky.

In the end, I have to confess that I got a little tired.  All that ooohhhing and ahhhing over the kids in their cute costumes kind of wore me out after a couple of hours.  I eventually just hopped up on the outside sofa, plumped myself a pillow to lay on, and hung out with spooky for a while.  Last year, the dude really scared me but this year I am way more mature and was not scared of him at all!

Mom says now we move on to Turkey Day.  Please tell me there are no costumes involved!!!!
